I discovered this "XBoy" earlier this evening while reading through OXM (Offical XBox Magazine). While it may sound as if Microsoft slapped an "X" in place of "Game", there could be a shot of hope here. First off, If you remember in one of my earlier threads (I don't myself to be honest) I went on and on about how Microsoft should enter the handheld market, a market that seems to be in more demand than that of it's console brethren.
Peter Moore (head of everything XBox) thinks otherwise, he believes the transition to whatever will be done through consoles, and not handhelds, he also believes handhelds are just an invitation to wasting time...not like the more sophisticated nature of consoles (What?). Maybe the XBoy will be revealed at E3, maybe it won't...who knows?
I do know one thing, though...there is great potential in the handheld market (just ask Nintendo) someone just has to tap into the potential of it, Sony hasn't succeeded in doing so, Nintendo is still on top, someone needs to challenge them (although they'll probably fail). Ultimately, it comes down to the bare essentials...does Microsoft really want to the king of kings, or just the premiere prince?

Moore's statement made me lose respect in the X-Box market... Though, I think Microsoft should stick to home consoles. Call me a fanboy if you must, but I doubt it would sell very well compared to Nintendo handhelds. Of course, this is judging from the PSP fiasco, it could be different. I don't exactly know why I don't think a XBoy would be very good, I just don't think Microsoft is the kind to sell something like that.

Was that April's issue of OXM? Probably, since all the game magazines tend to do April Fool's Jokes about handhelds lately, whether from Apple, Microsoft, or otherwise.
Edit: Okay, "Xboy" was the codename of Microsoft's project to potentially create a handheld console. It has long since been ditched and Microsoft doesn't have any current interest in diving into the handheld market.
