Has anyone else played this game? The gameplay mechanics are awesome, if you're into detailed mech operations. IMO, the game controls could have been even more complex, but they managed a good balance between realism and fun. Admitedly, the storyline mostly sucks, there's no characters (per se) or character development, and it features Capcom's classic cutscenes of a background image with still shots of characters and terrible voice acting failing to push the story along.
Despite all its pitfalls, the game is, overall, a lot of fun once you get the hang of the controller. I think that, with some work, they could have made a true Steel Battalion sequel that blew away its predecessor, or even another game that utilises SB's controller. I think the controller was a great idea, but making it a requirement was a problem, and the fact that it only works with one game sucks. It's definitely something other developers should look at when making games. Gamers definitely want to get more involved in the operation of vehicles and weapons in their games. Racing gamers have some pretty cool controllers available, as do flight gamers. Mech gamers need their own peripherals, too. e.e I think there should be a controller similar to SB's that can be customised for use with any mech game.
But anyway, if anyone else has played this, please provide your two cents. n.n
