Not the demise of the PC market as to say Apple will kill it, but rather may cause a domino effect. But of course this may or may not happen. Anyway I found an article on Slashdot saying that Apples with Intel's can boot LinuxWhat this means Apple has created something closer to a universal hardware platofrm. It'll run three of the major OS's. Sounds good? If you think about it does. Just buy an Apple machine, run all three OS's, and you saved yourself the cost of an extra PC or two. However this person puts it: CHRP by the way means Common Hardware Reference Platform. Currently I'd say x86 PC's are the closest thing we have to a CHRP, but we don't have that. In a debate, this would be called a Slippery Slope fallacy, but I'll say it anyway: 1. Intel will gain the upper hand because of EFI support unless AMD hurries up and finds out how it works. 2. nVIDIA will gain the upper hand because they're the only major video card company that supports Mac, unless of course ATI makes drivers for Mac. 3. Motherboard companies will have to learn how to make EFI motherboards, otherwise Apple will have a monopoly. All in all, this is the worst case scenario: Mac will become the new Windows and Apple the new Microsoft, whether you'd like that to happen or not.
