This will be a new weekly column I'll be doing and for the first one the title is just as you see it, but it will talk about a lot of things. Future columns will have an initial focus. Now, onto the column.
Let's see, where do I begin? I had an idea whilst thinking this up and I've happened to have forgotten it. I guess I'll just ramble for this first edition. I find it funny how John Carmack has pretty much dismissed the PS3 due to the complex programming issues with Cell, John also hinted at one of my hypothesis' by saying data has to broken up into chunks for the SPEs (roughly 50-65% of the PS3's processing power) which in one way or another proves the 360 has the potential to have smarter AI. However, if you think otherwise feel free, express yourself. I'm all game for an interesting chat.
Another thing I find funny is the rising costs of supercars, beforehand (around 1996-ish) the McLaren F1 was the most expensive production road car to date, and today the most expensive road car is the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 which comes out to a whopping 1.3 million dollars. And if that wasn't enough for you, Maserati has an extreme concept car they're considering bringing to the assembly line, the Birdcage 75th Concept. Maserati plans to manufacture this car for it's most loyal and level-headed customers, if produced, the Birdcage with cost a chilling 3 million. The only thing that rightfully justifies it's price is the fact it uses technologies that won't be available in conventional cars or any other car for that matter for years to come.
Well, the rambling worked because I remember what this column was originally supposed to be about. Isn't it funny that so many movies are being remade?
I mean seriously, let's look at the facts. The Exorcist has been remade, The Omen is being remade, and a lot others. What really kills me is that all of these re-makes pale in comparison to the originals...no matter how cheesy they were. Directors are spending way too much money to bring a classic "up-to-date" and that alone ruins the mood. Look at The Omen, it's coming out on 6-06-06 (666) that's a desperate marketing attempt to gain attention, I bet the movie will literally suck when someone who's seen the original over and over again compares the two. I now hear New Line is remaking the Friday the 13th franchise. I'll personally be the one to compare all 9 movies to their 9 re-makes, I mean it's funny because ever since New Line brought the rights to F13 it's utterly stooped to the levels of a comedy. For their first movie (Jason Goes To Hell) they had two newbie directors make the movie. WTF?
If this is any indication of what's to come, we're in for a big surprise...I guarantee it.
