Launch day for the XBox 360 has come and gone now, and for the most part it's been able to stand on it's own two feet and sell like hotcakes, but could it have been better?
Well, that's what we're here to find out....
The XBox 360 is a powerhouse there's no doubting that, but there's the simple fact that if more time and money was put into Project Xenon, it could've been far better than it is now. So much better in fact that the PS3 wouldn't even have a leading edge over it.
How is this possible you ask? Simple really. Currently the 360 supports DirectX version 9 and Shader Model 3.0, in it's specifications it states it has limited support for DirectX version 10 and Shader Model 4.0.
Why?
Microsoft owns DirectX and every subsidiary associated with it, why not put a console out there that has full support for DirectX 10? Other than having the full source code and firmware, I see no reason why Microsoft didn't take the extra time to administer that. With that progression alone, the XBox 360 would have had a future firmware advantage over the PS3, at least in the sense of shader presentation.
Another progression could've been Windows Vista, again of course it isn't out yet...but it's been underway for some time now. Instead of limited DX 10 support, it could've limited support for Vista. Which would've given the 360 a sense of being future-proof for the time being.
Case in point, the 360 has a lot to offer essentially, but it's potential will probably never be fully utilized other than it's hardware.

So what.. - you'd have some blank slate and then you'd "download" Vista. Because that's what they're doing with it you know.
For Vista.. there is not a disc in sight.
Too bad for those loser companies who sell'em! Hahahaha!

No, no..I didn't mean downloading support for an OS over Live, it's not even really about Windows Vista compatibility on the 360. Hell, Vista doesn't even launch until next year January or February...so, yeah.
My point here is that the XBox 360 has so much potential of being compared to a PC constantly, just as the original XBox was. Do not forget that the XBox is basically a tailored PC with Microsoft branding, basically.
The 360 has the power, it has the looks, and most importantly....it has the potential for greater games, I just believe none of the developers will use it.

I tend to agree, however... there is hope...
Microsoft could just buy every single fscking third-party company that makes games - like they've been doing - and have them release things for the XBox exclusively, and then 'maybe' for the PC.
Assholes.

Well, if Microsoft did do that, it would constitute as a monopoly--which is illegal in these states. The only way it wouldn't, is if Bill Gates buys them out, which is what I know that you meant by saying so.
Another thing I don't understand is why Microsoft didn't put more money into the project, who knows what a couple of million dollars more could have done, it isn't like Microsoft can't afford to do so, I mean look who the CEO is. e.e
In any case, I believe even I could have designed better ass-kicking hardware for the XBox 360.
....I have spoken, thou shalt not defeat thy PC...ever!

Well, why don't you just go to Microsoft and apply for a job, and we'll see if they believe you. Just like every other fanboy... you don't see the ECONOMICS behind this.
All Microsoft did was provide a product that could be seen as 'next-generation' without spending too much on it and not getting them a profit. It's simple.. Adam Smith "invisible hand" type shit.

Just like every other fanboy... you don't see the ECONOMICS behind this. Where did you, in that entire post find any indication of fanboyism? o.o I simply stated the XBox 360 could've been better through spending more money, look at Sony...I forget how much, but something just north of four hundred-million was spent on the development of Cell and while it may have not come out to have been perfect by intention.... Wait, wait...that contradicts my original intentions for this post. Case in point, with all the money Microsoft has...why not spend it on what is ultimately Bill Gates' attempt at getting Windows or some associated with it--into every home worldwide?

I find fanboy-ism in every single post that is made by individuals such as us.
That's beside the point.
I don't think every home is ready for that. And the cost of creating such a 'system' would outweigh any profit that they'd make from consumers.
