I find it funny how people complain about the price of the PS3 being $500 and praising that Wii (or Nintendo Revolution) is $200. Then the console players mock PC gamers that they spend 1000's on hardware while they only spend at most $400 and that PC gaming is a worthless venture.
Why is it I get the feeling that people feel that entertainment technology is their right to have? People seem to believe that if they don't have the XBox 360, they suck. And since many just can't afford it right off the bat, they get all pissy about it. I blame the American culture for this. That we as Americans must have the top of the line thing or the new thing that comes out.
While people maybe thinking technology is getting expensive, it's actually grown cheaper. I read that the Atari 2600 was $250 when it first came out. Sounds good right? When you include inflation, that number triples to nearly $750. The NES debuted at $250 as well, but inflation makes that figure nearly double. The PS1? A small increase, but it would've gone up from $300 to $410.
And then I read an article about Quad-SLI on X-Bit labs. It makes a good point Quad SLI is not for everyone. Quad SLI and an FX-60 in the computer world is like equating someone to buying a Ferrari or a Porsche in the car world.
I wish people would understand, you don't need these things, and that all these high end gizmos are for the hardcore enthusiasts who actually have the money to spare.

Yes, and the government is the executive committee of the bourgoesie!
POWER TO THE PROLETARIAT! WORKERS OF THE WORLD UNITE!
Besides all that, I tend to agree. I don't know why half the idiot who buy game console to play a single game (Madden) even bother. It's like you're paying three-hundred fifty bucks to play one game. They really are a specialist good. That is, people who use them as more than a hobby are the ones who are actually getting a use out of them. The rest of us are just suckers for Microsoft, Sony, and .. .well.. if you buy a Nintendo you hail to God-Wii. Who is a spiteful god... but... fanboys.. they roll with that type of shit.

It's just human nature. e.e Some day there'll be a Communist entertainment technology industry and everyone will be equal and Pauly Shore will be loved again.
